Idea Napkin No. 1

1) You. 
I am a very organized and ambitious person; people who know me well would say I have a "fiery" personality. This helps a lot when I am heading projects, whether its for school or work. I'm a Business Administration major and I plan on specializing in Art History. Since I want to get into the industry behind museums and galleries, I don't see this business idea as being super relevant to what I want to do. However, if I did start it, it would be really good experience to have in terms of project management. 
2) What are you offering to customers? 
I'm offering a scooter rental service that rents scooters to commuting students on a daily/weekly basis. Instead of wasting time trying to park cars on campus or waiting for buses, students will be able to schedule in advance what days they will need the scooter to get to campus. This will ensure that they have a more time efficient way of commuting. 
3) Who are you offering it to? 
The primary customer base for this service is commuting students who don't want to waste their time searching for on campus parking and/or waiting for buses throughout the day. It could also include staff members who work on campus during the day and experience the same problems that commuting students do. 
4) Why do they care? 
Customers would pay for this service if they want a more time efficient way of getting to campus during the week, especially those who genuinely dislike wasting their time commuting. 
5) What are your core competencies? 
I'm very good at spearheading projects and ideas, and I'm very determined. If there is something that I want or would like to achieve, I always make sure that I am doing everything possible to make sure that it happens. This is helpful as it helps me to always stand by my beliefs and opinions, however, I am also able to understand others and be considerate of their opinions/beliefs which is extremely important in any aspect.

    Hey Olivia,

    Great job on this assignment. I really like your idea. I think a lot of students would rent scooters on a daily basis. I feel this isn't just for students trying to get to school on time either. Maybe students who work certain days of the week, or have to travel far for an interview ect. could use this service instead of relying on another person or a bus service.

    Hey Olivia,

    You did a really great job on your idea napkin assignment. I think this is a really great idea actually. The transportation system at the University of Florida is absolutely horrible. Personally, I drive to school everyday and it is a very annoying process to find parking. Two of my roommates take the bus, while the other bought a scooter. I think a scooter rental service would be very convenient and helpful.

Opportunity: From my interviews, I found that commuting students spend about 45 minutes to an hour everyday waiting for buses and trying to find parking on campus. This adds up to an average of four hours every week that students waste by commuting.  A lot of commuting students (and staff) dislike having to allot that much time everyday for commuting issues. They feel like they could be using that time to be more productive. Basically, they need a more efficient way of getting to campus that wastes the minimum amount of time. The reason this problem exists is due to traffic that causes buses to not be on schedule along with the fact that the amount of parking available to students on campus is lacking. Reading Reflection No. 2

 Then general theme of the book was finding success in the numerous failures that happen in life.  In my opinion, this book coincided a lot with the discussion of tenacity in this class. In one chapter titled "Passion is Bullshit," Adams discusses the controversy of passion being the key to success as most people think it is. He elaborated on how with each failure and success of his different ventures, his level of passion changed every time. I think this goes hand in hand with tenacity. If you are starting a project or business, your levels of motivation and passion are bound to fluctuate, and you need to be tenacious enough to work through them and see past it.  If I had to design an exercise based on this book, it would involve students coming up with a business idea based on something they hate.
