Testing the Hypothesis, Part 2

WHO
I interviewed 5 more people, all of who commute to campus. Two of the five said that they would be interested in a business like this because they don't like the amount of extra time they have to take to consider parking on campus. Two others weren't as optimistic about it. One said that they don't mind the extra time because they get to campus a few hours earlier than their classes to study, so this wouldn't even apply to them. The other said that the extra time they take to find parking and wait for buses should be expected and isn't that big of a deal. The fifth person said they were on the fence about the solution. They said that they understood how this would help, but they were skeptical about how committed people would be to only having the scooter for a few days a week.

WHAT
This need differs from typical commuting needs once you are actually on campus. Typical commuting needs are often centered around the lack of parking, but this solution is based around using the available scooter parking to eliminate wasted time.

WHY
The underlying cause of the outsiders' need was different because they viewed the problem in a completely different way than those inside the boundary. The outsiders didn't even see the wasted commute time as a problem, it was just something that is part of their day and isn't that big of a deal.

  1. Hey Olivia,

Great job on identifying the people inside and outside your boundary. Luckily I think very few people don't see extra commuting time as an issue. As college students a lot of us have a lot going on, and time management is key. Also the unreliability of buses and campus parking makes your service much more appealing. Well done!!

  2. Hey Olivia! Your table looks great and it is very easy to read. With the daily scooter rentals, would the scooter be dropped off at your apartment each day you need it or would you have to go to the place, park a car there, and then borrow the scooter for the day? Would this take just about the same amount of time it would take to wait for a bus?
